Brussel Sprouts and Kala Chana Nu Shaak


Brussel Sprouts! Gross right? No! here's a delicious new shaak to try out ...Brussel Sprouts and Kala Chana nu Shaak. 

Time: 30 minutes, Serves 3, Calories/Serving 117
Ingredients
  • 1/3 cup black chickpeas (kala chana), soaked overnight
  • 10 large brussel sprouts, halved and chopped                                   
  • 1 large onion, sliced length wise
  • Adu marchu
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder (harder)   
  • 1 tbsp coconut, shredded
  • Salt to taste                                       
  • Vaghar
    • 1 tbsp oil
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeeru)
    • 1 tsp mustard seeds (rye)
Procedure
  1. Prepare vaghar by heating oil and cumin and mustard seeds in a large nonstick pot.
  2. Sautee onions and kala chana for a few minutes
  3. Add chopped brussel sprouts along with adumarchu and coconut
  4. Add salt and turmeric, mix well
  5. Cover and cook on a medium-low flame for about 10 minutes
  6. After 10 minutes, remove the lid, stir them once and add salt if necessary. The sprouts should be tender. 
Serve hot with rotli.
