Orange Slice Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Time: 30-40 minutes, Serves: 80, Calories/Serving: 113 for Orange Slice, 104 for Chocolate Chip
(this Recipe makes about 80 cookies)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup candy orange slices
  • 1 cup sugar
  • another 1/4 cup sugar (to roll orange candy in)
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 12-oz white choc chips
  • 1 cup chopped, roasted pecans, optional
For the Chocolate chip cookies, omit orange slices, and pecans. Substitute the white chocolate chips for dark chocolate chips

Procedure:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Cut each orange slice into 8 or more pieces. Roll in 1/4 cup sugar so that it is no longer sticky and set aside (Omit for Chocolate Chip Cookies)
  3. Cream butter, shortening and sugars
  4. Add in eggs and vanilla.
  5. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt and add to creamed mixture
  6. Stir in chips, pecans, and orange candy bits (Add only dark chocolate chips for Chocolate Chip Cookies)
  7. Roll into one inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. I like to flatten the just a bit with a fork for some design and texture
  8. Depending on your oven, bake for 8-12 minutes or until golden brown.
